Rust

Systems language for safe, fast code — I use it for the WebSocket feed and message bus on the low-latency path of a real-time data system.

Rust is a systems programming language that offers C-level performance with memory safety enforced at compile time, which makes it a good fit for latency-sensitive services.

How I use it

In my Independent AI & Full-Stack Engineer (Freelance) work on Real-time Data Systems, I wrote the low-latency path in Rust — WebSocket feed handling and an internal message bus — alongside an event-driven Python backend (asyncio, FastAPI, WebSockets), with containerized deployments via Docker. Release builds use release-profile optimizations with link-time optimization (LTO), and microbenchmarks in C compared fan-out strategies before I committed to a design. Rust is a targeted tool in my stack — used where latency matters — rather than my primary language.

Why it matters

Splitting a system so that most of it stays in productive, high-level Python while a narrow hot path moves to Rust keeps development fast without giving up latency where it counts. It is a pragmatic, per-component choice of language rather than a rewrite.

Rust also appears in my broader toolkit next to TypeScript, Python, Dart and PHP.
