C
Low-level systems language — I use C microbenchmarks to measure fan-out strategies before choosing a design.
C is the low-level systems language underneath most operating systems and runtimes.
How I use it
In Real-time Data Systems, I wrote small C microbenchmarks to measure message fan-out strategies — how fast one producer can feed many consumers — before committing to the Rust design of the low-latency path. Measuring first keeps architecture decisions grounded in numbers rather than assumptions.
Why it matters
Benchmarks at the lowest level set the ceiling every higher-level implementation is judged against.
