MySQL
Open-source relational database — the backend of the custom PHP CRMs I built and maintained.
MySQL is a widely used open-source relational database, a classic pairing for PHP applications.
How I use it
At California Fitness I built a fully custom PHP/MySQL web CRM and maintained and optimized the production database. Earlier projects — a gym CRM with an Ionic app and a laboratory management tool — used the same PHP/MySQL stack.
Why it matters
Maintaining and optimizing a production database over years — with weekly releases on top of it — built the habits I still apply today: careful schema changes, query performance work and keeping a live system healthy while it evolves.
Today most of my relational work runs on PostgreSQL, usually through Supabase.
