MercadoPago is a payments platform widely used across Latin America, offering checkout, subscriptions and webhook notifications.

How I use it

In the SaaS Products for Small Businesses from my Independent AI & Full-Stack Engineer (Freelance) work, I integrated MercadoPago payments with webhooks into Next.js + Supabase products, alongside row-level security, Edge Functions and reporting.

Why it matters

For small businesses in Latin America, local payment methods matter more than global card processors. Handling payment state through webhooks — rather than trusting the browser redirect — is what keeps orders and payments consistent when a customer closes the tab or a notification arrives late.

Combined with Supabase Edge Functions, a webhook handler can sit right next to the data it updates.
