n8n is a source-available workflow automation platform that connects APIs and services with visual nodes and code steps, and can be self-hosted.
How I use it
n8n is part of my low-code and automation toolkit, next to Make and GitHub Actions. I have a long track record of replacing manual processes with automated workflows — for example as IT Manager at California Fitness — but none of my public projects is built specifically on n8n.
Why it matters
Visual automation tools are a fast way to connect SaaS systems and prototype workflows before deciding whether a process deserves custom code. Being self-hostable, n8n also suits teams that need to keep data in their own infrastructure.
For AI work, such tools are a quick way to wire an LLM step into an existing business process.
