FlutterFlow is a visual development environment for mobile and web apps that generates Flutter code. Its community bug tracker is the public, issues-only repository FlutterFlow/flutterflow-issues.

As part of my work at Somnio Software, I'm a core contributor to this public issue triage, which has covered 600+ issues.

How the tracker works

  • Reproducible bugs only. The repository's stated goal is to track bugs the FlutterFlow team can reproduce. Issues that turn out to be specific to one project's configuration are redirected to support, and feature requests go to the in-product feedback form rather than the tracker.
  • Structured intake. Reports arrive through the repository's bug-report issue templates.
  • Automatic closure. An issue closes automatically when its fix is merged into the FlutterFlow codebase; the fix can take up to two weeks to reach production.

What triage means

Triage is the step between a community report and an engineering fix: reading the report, trying to reproduce it outside the reporter's project, deciding whether it is a platform bug, a project-specific problem or a feature request, and making sure what reaches the team is clear and actionable. Doing this across hundreds of reports requires broad, hands-on knowledge of FlutterFlow and of the Flutter and Dart code it generates.
